These feet were made for walkin'!

Lamar and I got home from Tennessee on Friday afternoon, drove straight to Waco, and met my dad to get Tyler. We were so thrilled to see our baby boy. It was a great time away for Lamar and me but home is always a bit sweeter!
What's even better than that.....Tyler waited to take his first steps until he was home with mommy and daddy! Here is a video of his first steps on Saturday evening. Can you tell we were excited?

This is the video from today. (Never mind the mess in the background...we are in the process of moving remember.)

This morning in church, in an amazing parallel of our walk with Christ, Lamar announced Tyler's new milestone. Immediately the whole church went...."aaahhh"! It was so sweet. Then afterwards, everyone kept coming up to us and telling us congratulations. What a great feeling to know that the body of Christ, at Riverbend Church, is celebrating with us even for the tiniest steps. We are so blessed!

Party Time!!! (Part 2)

When it was time to sing Happy Birthday and blow out the candle, Tyler was not too impressed. I'm not sure if it was the candle, or the singing that he was so disgusted with!

I was so excited to give Tyler his very first cupcake. I had this picture in my head that he would dive into it, smear the icing all over his face, scarf the entire thing down and want more. I was oh so wrong. Tyler just sort of stared at the cupcake, not really sure what to do with it. Even after I gave him a taste of the yummy icing on top....he just stared at it. (So I guess it wasn't necessary to take off his shirt and give him a bib.)

Eventually, he became a little interested and decided to crush it in his hands, spread it on the table and drop it onto the floor. We tried to feed it to him, but apparently he did not enjoy the taste either. (He obviously doesn't take after his mommy who LOVES ALL SWEETS....because I ate 3!)

My sweet boy does love to share though. He fed most of his cupcake to his daddy and me...he is so thoughtful!

After cleaning him all up, it was time to play with the balloons again. Lamar's dad and Sandra loved getting to spend some time with Tyler. It wasn't much...but it was enough to tide them over until they come back to Austin next Thursday (Yay for moving day!)

After the party at Rudy's, everyone came to our place for a little more hang out time before Tyler had to go with MawMaw and PawPaw to East Texas. Tyler was so excited to get play with his friends. They all loved hanging out in the playroom and checking out all the fun new toys. They had so much fun and I loved seeing them all together!

So Tyler's first birthday was success! My baby boy turned one and our friends and family were here to celebrate. It was a very special day that Tyler will never forget...(because everyone took a million pictures!) Thanks everyone.....we love you!

Here is the video of his first cupcake experience. It's not too exciting, but he is still pretty cute to watch! My favorite is what he does with the cupcake after you put it into his mouth....enjoy!

Party Time!!! (Part 1)

Saturday was Tylers first birthday party at Rudy's BBQ. Tons of family and friends came into town to celebrate with us. We had such a fun time hanging out with everyone and eating some delicious barbeque. We picked out some fun balloons for him (which were the hit of the party with all the kiddos)

and I made some really cute monkey cupcakes that I saw in a magazine.

We were so happy to see everybody, all our old friends from Arlington and our new friends that live right here in Austin with us. It made me so happy to see how many people care for my little boy. He is so loved and it melts my heart knowing how many people have been a part of his first year. Thanks to everyone who drove all the way to Austin to celebrate Tyler's first birthday.

Tyler was more fascinated with the balloons than anything else. He would yank them all around so they would hit him on the head, and he would just laugh hysterically. It was so cute!

His friends from play group (twins) Brendon and Patrick loved the balloons too. (Much thanks to their mom DeDe for the amazing photo cards she made for Tyler's party. They are so adorable. If you ever need an incredible hand-made card....DeDe is the one to call!)

Tyler had a blast walking around with his Uncle Ty at the party.

Tyler's sweet friends Bjorn and Anika joined us too. (Anika and her mom Laurel used to come babysit Tyler for me every Tuesday when he was still a tiny baby. They were such a big help to me and it's wonderful knowing that they have watched him grow with me.)

Birthday Fun!

Aunt Mande and Uncle Ty came to Austin on Thursday, which was Tyler's actual birthday, and we had so much fun with them. Tyler loves his Aunt and Uncle so we were really happy to have the extra time to spend with them. Thursday afternoon we went out to the playground of our apartments and had a blast taking fun pictures with Tyler. He is ALL BOY! He loves to be outside...playing in the dirt, sliding down the slide, climbing up the stairs....he likes it all!
Here is Tyler with his Aunt Mande. He gets a little confused as to who is who....since we now have a very similar haircut.

Down! Set! Hut!

Tyler has now learned to say "up" when he climbs up stairs. He is so smart!

WEEEEEEEE!

I love my sweet family.

On Friday, we wore Tyler out shopping to get ready for his party.
Here is my sweet, little, sleepy boy taking his much needed afternoon nap.

Right now, Lamar and I are in Nashville, Tennessee for a creative arts/music conference and Tyler is visiting his MawMaw and PawPaw in East Texas. Be praying for us! I have never been away from Tyler for more than one night, so this week is really hard. Lamar and I are loving our time together, just the two of us, but we sure do miss our little boy. Today is the first day I haven't cried....but it's only 6pm.
Birthday party pictures coming soon......
